We use the Grace Little Centre as a base for children's support and activities. The centre and staff team provides a safe and secure environment for young people with disabilities to socialise and relax with their peers, try new activities and increase their independence.
Facilities
The centre is fully accessible and has moving and handling equipment to meet the needs of even the most profoundly disabled young people. The activity wing has a sensory room, soft play, IT and arts and crafts areas.
The Centre's Origins
In 2009 we received a generous bequest of £200,000 from one of our members, Grace Little. The trustees elected to use the money to establish a local purpose-built centre to help us meet the needs of local children. Along with a gift of land on a 150 year lease by Kingmoor Park Properties and a £160,000 grant from Cumbria County Council we were able to pay for the construction of the Grace Little Centre.
If you would like to know more about private hire or how your child can access the Grace Little Centre please contact enquiries@carlislemencap.co.uk or call the Carlisle Mencap main office on 01228 674393.
