Supported Living

Carlisle Mencap provides support for 12 young women to live in their own tenancies at 5 different locations in Carlisle. The tenants have 24-hour support and their families are closely involved with the services.

The services are person-centred and have been developed around the interests and individual needs of clients. Tenants are encouraged to be involved in choosing their staff team and in developing and reviewing their Person Centred Plans and Care Plans.

Staff support the clients in all aspects of their daily living, helping them to manage their own tenancies, develop their independent living skills and engage in local services as part of the community.

Carlisle Mencap now works in partnership with Golden Lane Housing, a housing provider who specialises in working with people with learning disabilities. Golden Lane Housing helps us to identify suitable properties, act as a landlord, deal with the maintenance and ensure tenants are able to claim the appropriate benefits.
