Carlisle Mencap currently provide support for 4 young women to live in their own tenancies in Carlisle. They have 24 hour support and their families are closely involved with the services.

At present we help 4 young women live in their own tenancies at 2 different locations in Carlisle.

The services are very person centred and have been developed around the interests and individual needs of the clients. They are encouraged to be involved with choosing their staff team, activley involved in Person Centred Plans and Care Plans and their Family members are closely involved with the services. Our staff support  the clients in all aspects of their daily living encouraging them to be as independent as possible.

Recently we have started to work in partnership with Golden Lane Housing- a housing provider who specialise in working with people with Learning Disabilities. They work along side us as a care provider and help us to identify a suitable property, claim the correct benefits, deal with the maintenance and act as a landlord.

We are looking to develop this serivce and help more people with learning disabilities to live independently in the community, if you or someone you know is looking to move out of the family home into a safe supported environment perhaps with their friends then please contact us and we will be able to help you.

THANK YOU for your support ...
