Community Support
Carlisle Mencap provides person-centred outreach support to enable adults with a learning disability to live fulfilling, active and inclusive lives as part of their community.
Each person-centred support package is built around the needs and wishes of the individual. They range from 1 hour to 50 hours a week and can be financed in a number of ways including Direct Payments, Social Services contracts and Individual Service Funds.
Our support can be provided on any day of the week and at any time. It might be to help people attend college, day services, appointments, a local gym or a swimming session. It could be to help people go shopping, prepare meals, complete household jobs, go to work or be a volunteer.
We have a highly skilled staff team who have been providing support in people's home and in the community for over 20 years. The team are experienced at working in ways that provide people with choice, help them exercise control over their lives and encourage them to develop independent living skills while giving carers and families a break from their caring responsibilities.
