There are two ways you can take part in this year’s London Marathon and help raise funds for Carlisle Mencap!
The 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon is set to be the biggest marathon ever staged anywhere in the world, with an incredible 100,000 runners scheduled to take part on Sunday, October 3.
And following on from last year’s successful event, on the same day there will be 50,000 places available for runners to take on the world’s greatest marathon on the course of their choice from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59 BST on October 3, wherever they are on the planet.
Last year’s virtual London Marathon saw 37,000 people take part – a world record for an event of its kind.
So why not join #TeamMencap for one of these world-record events on October 3?
People with learning disabilities need your support more than ever in these difficult times. The money you raise means Carlisle Mencap can continue to provide the vital support the 500-plus adults and children with learning disabilities in Cumbria and their families need.
If you take part for #TeamMencap in the main event on the streets of London, you will get:
· A brand new Mencap running vest to wear on race day
· Training tips and plans
· Fundraising support from the Mencap events team
· A post-race meet and greet from the Mencap events team.

But if you can’t get to London – just go online and run the marathon for us!
You can take part in your local area on the same day. You will have 23 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds to complete the 26.2 miles by either walking, running or jogging!
It costs just £25 to enter. We then ask that you raise a minimum of £250 to make a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability who have been some of the most affected in society by the coronavirus pandemic and who need your help now more than ever.
