Carlisle Mencap was delighted to be asked to run the cafe at the monthly Houghton Farmers' Market in the village hall - and even more delighted to make a profit of more than £124!
The popular farmers' market is held on the second Saturday of every month between 9am and 1pm in the hall at the village near Carlisle and attracts a wide range of traders and stallholders.
We were invited to take a turn in running the cafe there so a team from our Children's Services went up there for 8am - serving the stallholders as they set up before 9am - and then stallholders and members of the public.
The team made and served bacon rolls as well as homemade Mars Bar cake, soft drinks, teas and coffees.
