Several planned fundraising events have had to be postponed and cancelled because of the ongoing coronavirus situation.
The biggest to bite the dust is the planned 24-Hour Football Marathon at SoccerWorld on June19-20. We now hope to run this next year.
As regards the Sponsored Guided Walk across Morecambe Bay Sands on Sunday July 19, we are waiting for the result of a forthcoming meeting of the Trust which organises the walks. So far they have cancelled planned guided walks for May and June.
We will let you know as soon as we know whether the July 19 walk is on or off.
Obviously the walk, along with our other events planned for the summer and beyond, are subject to the situation at the time in the UK regarding the coronavirus crisis. But events we were due to take part in, including the Easter Family Fun Event at Gretna on April 9, the Upperby Gala at Hammond's Pond on May 25, and the Unity Festival in Carlisle city centre on July 11, have all been CANCELLED. So please keep an eye on Carlisle Mencap's website, Twitter account and Facebook page for up-to-date information.
